I want to tell my friends about... Okay, I would actually like to tell my brother and my dad about finding this video online. A couple years ago my brother got to go see an orchestra actually perform all of the music from the Star Wars movies. He said it was absolutely incredible. Every few years they have a show up in Cincinnati (where I'm from) and I after watching this video I realized I would really love to go with my brother and dad someday. It's really exciting being able to actually see all of the instruments that are used to produce such an iconic sound. I really would love to hear a live orchestra play Williams' beautiful music. I think that I would just be blown away by the power of the live music. Maybe I can convince my sister's band to play some Star Wars music. Researching for this project is making me want to start playing an instrument again. Maybe I'll ask my sister for my clarinet back. In this video I think the brass instruments really stuck out while listening. I could really listen to Star Wars music all day.

Darth Vader's Theme aka Imperial March
This reminds me of being back in middle school. I was in the marching band in middle school and we all got to play this song. I don't know of anyone who could hear this song and not know it is Star Wars. I'm a huge Star Wars fan and every time I think of Star Wars this is the music that comes to mind. It's funny how simple it actually is, yet it sticks with you. Each time I hear these simple notes repeated I am reminded of being a kid and playing this music on my old clarinet. Star Wars also reminds me of spending time with my dad when I was younger. Star Wars has always been something that him and I can bond over. I take advantage of each time Star Wars comes on TV on Spike. I try to watch it with my dad each time it comes on. Really though, who hasn't heard this song? Even the few people who haven't seen any of the movies will recognize this music. I challenge you to find a person that hasn't heard this song before.
John Williams being interviewed about the Phantom Menace
I was surprised by how closely John Williams and George Lucas work together when it comes to the music in the Star Wars films. Usually when I hear about composers working with directors I hear that the composers are told about an overall tone that is wanted and that's all, instead of the in-depth conversations that seemed to be exchanged between Williams and Lucas. They would discuss when there should be no music playing or when the music should speed up during certain points. I was also surprised that Williams said in the newer movie only about 10% of the music is from the original three movies. I'm surprised that Williams didn't use more of the same music. It's neat that Williams used some of the same stuff like Yoda's theme and some of Darth Vader's theme. He used newer music for things like the pod race and for Anakin's theme. I also find it surprising that the music in just this one film adds up to be about two hours worth of music. It's incredible how quickly Williams can compose such a large amount music with such great quality.
